Oct. 23, 2018

A Practical Workshop on Contracts, Costs & Key Questions

Event- The Insiders Guide to Choosing a CCRC - 10-23-2018 at RiverWoods Exeter The good news is that most of us are living longer. The question is what that life will look like, and how increasing health care costs will be covered as you age. How do you financially plan to maintain your current lifestyle for the rest of your life, no matter what happens?

Many informed adults are choosing Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) as a smart choice. But how do you evaluate CCRCs? Are they all the same? What are their differences in contracts and costs? What questions should smart consumers ask to determine if the community is reliable and financially solid? This workshop will cover many key questions to help you assess CCRCs. It provides an insider’s look at how to assess different CCRC types and contracts, and outlines how to evaluate financial strength. Developed over several years, the seminar will also include a complimentary workbook for each attendee.

Attend, and you will learn:

  • National and regional CCRC background
  • The 3 major types of CCRCs
  • Contract differences and what to look for
  • Key benchmarks of financial strength
  • Critical indicators to measure service quality

You are invited to attend with your financial advisor or estate planning professional.

Active Aging Week 2018

Wholeheartedly celebrating Active Aging Week seems to come naturally to the many RiverWoods Exeter residents who took part in the program once again this year.

Active Aging Week at RiverWoods Exeter - September 2018

Developed by the International Council on Active Aging® (ICAA), Active Aging Week takes place in September and celebrates the positive aspects of aging today. The annual week-long campaign is designed to help older adults enhance all areas of their life—physical, social, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, vocational and environmental.

At RiverWoods Exeter, Active Aging Week included a multi-generational walk/run event for residents, staff and families. There was also kayaking, hiking, biking, Pickleball, ping pong, aqua volleyball and... when it was time to catch our breath... we took in several helpful presentations by expert speakers on topics related to health and wellness.

Lending a hand for seniors in the greater Exeter community

RiverWoods Exeter is proud of the continued partnership with our previous gala recipient Society of St Vincent de Paul Exeter NH  (SVdP). This summer we joined them in the monthly BBQ for seniors in the greater Exeter community. Teams from various departments at RiverWoods Exeter volunteered each month to cook, serve, and deliver the food with our friends from SVdP. We had a wonderful time and look forward to keeping the tradition alive next year!

NH is home to the healthiest seniors

If you want to retire among the healthiest individuals, consider heading to New Hampshire.

That's because the Granite State is home to the healthiest residents in the 65-and-over cohort, according to SeniorLiving.com's analysis of Healthy Aging data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Assisted Living Direct Admission Now Offered at RiverWoods Exeter

Special opportunity admits residents in need of additional care at The Lodges at RiverWoods Exeter

Exeter, NH – RiverWoods Exeter, the Seacoast Region’s premier Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), is now offering the rare opportunity for a limited number of people to move directly into an Assisted Living apartment at The Lodges at RiverWoods Exeter.

Typically, RiverWoods Exeter accepts residents who qualify medically to be able to live independently. That’s because RiverWoods Exeter is a CCRC designed for independent people who want the promise of care in one community, for their future. However, The Lodges at RiverWoods Exeter is providing an unusual admission opportunity for a handful of people with assisted living level needs.

Assisted Living at The Lodges at RiverWoods Exeter provides the same safety, security and services as our independent living, but goes beyond to provide supportive services for those who need some assistance with activities of daily living, including the management of medications, bathing, dressing and personal care. Licensed nursing supervision at The Lodges is provided 24-hours a day, seven days a week. The Lodges also offer a wide array of social and recreational activities. Should one need additional care in the future, in Skilled Nursing at The Lodges, the Overall Quality and Staff is rated Five-Star by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
